 Applicants who do not qualify to become permanent residents of Canada may have the option to apply on humanitarian and compassionate grounds. However, humanitarian and compassionate grounds solely apply to people with exceptional cases. This act allows applicants to protect themselves from any requirements under Canada’s immigration laws that would result in hardship. This section is on a case-by-case basis.
